Rally your teams to achieve the KISIP vision, Coordinator Arwa tells component heads, staff during meeting

Rally your teams to achieve the KISIP vision, Coordinator Arwa tells component heads, staff during meeting The KISIP National Coordinator George Arwa has urged staff to ensure realization of the project’s vision through seamless collaboration and teamwork. Speaking last Friday during a staff meeting held at Prism Tower, Nairobi, Mr Arwa said all KISIP staff and consultants must faithfully believe in the global vision of the project. “We have very defined roles and responsibilities.

My vision is that we move from bottom to a high performing team. KISIP project is not about us; but it’s about the people and the many communities we serve. Let the footprints of informalities become formal,” he noted. He added that all these can be done in a very collaborative manner urging component heads to think through ways of linking the components to the proposed new restructured system. Arwa further urged the teams to leverage on what the national government is doing on social housing.

He consequently explained that the last mission by the World Bank did not rate KISIP well, urging staff to read and comprehend the Bank’s documents to see areas of improvement. “Absorption of funds has been very low. We are at 50 per cent of the project at Mid Term Review but absorption is at only 14 per cent. We ought to have been at 50 per cent absorption rate by now. We must therefore get out of this pit,” he told staff.

During the meeting, the Coordinator also revealed the proposed new administrative structures within the components, announcing creation of community development and gender component. “These are the structures that make an institution work. We have made changes in the components so that we can quickly move to achieve our vision as one family. If you are given a task, make sure you discharge your duties to the uttermost,” Arwa noted urging the component heads to rally their teams towards achieving the vision.

The deputy coordinator Ms. Stella Gitimu while addressing the gathering, encouraged for unity of purpose, teamwork and effort from team members. During the meeting staff also shared a cake and gifted some officers who have since left the project on redeployment and retirement.
