KISIP 1 Milestones/Achievements

KISIP 1 has made significant contributions towards improving the living conditions of 1,361, 320 people who have benefited from infrastructure and tenure security enhancements.

Under infrastructure interventions, 98.289km of road were constructed to bitumen standards; 120.078km of stand-alone footpaths done; 109.812km of drainage canals constructed; 21No. ablution blocks constructed; 63.048km of sewer pipeline laid with 4,788 No. connections done; 112.494km of water pipeline laid and 8,739 No. water connections done; 11 No. water kiosks constructed and 134 No. 30M high mast lighting installed.

Under tenure, a total of 23,397 titles have been prepared/ or are being prepared with 26,387 direct beneficiaries and 110,820 indirect beneficiaries.

The National Hygiene Program (Phase 1A) provided employment to 26,148 youths from 27 informal settlements in 8 counties to cushion them from the effects of Covid-19.

 b) Enhancing Tenure Security: Planning, Survey and Titling undertaken in Seven (7) informal settlements; Embakasi, Kahawa Soweto, Kambi Moto, Mathare Fire Victims, Ex-Grogon, Mji wa Huruma and Redeemed settlements. A total of 204No. titles were prepared.

 c) Planning for urban growth: A County Housing policy was developed and handed over to the county for implementation.

 b) Enhancing Tenure Security: Planning, Survey and Titling undertaken in (7) informal settlements; Kindunguni, Kisumu Ndogo, Misufini, Kwa Hakatsa, Mwatate, Chaani and Likoni. A total of 3,243N0. titles were prepared.

 c) Planning for Urban growth: A County Housing policy was developed and handed over to the county for implementation.

 b) Enhancing Tenure Security: Planning, Survey and Titling undertaken in Thirteen (13) informal settlements; Kibokoni M17E, Muyeye 1, Kwa Ndomo, M26 Kibokoni, Jiwe Leupe, Makaburini, Njoro ya Chini, Shingila, Jakaba, Njoro Takatifu, Ndigwini, Tabora and Muyeye II. A total of 3,941N0. Titles were prepared.

 

Benefitted from enhancement of tenure security. Planning, Survey and Titling was done in Five (5) Informal settlements; Namu (Phase 1 and 2), Riig (Phase 1 and 2), Iskadek (Phase 1 and 2), Makhanu (Phase 1 and 2), and County (Phase 1 and 2). A total of 7,580N0. Titles were prepared.

Planning, Survey and Titling was done in Nineteen (19) Informal settlements; Gatitu, Kihatha, Kihuyo, Riamukurwe, Ithenguri, Gitathini, Gitero, Chorongi, Kiamwathi, Kiaruhiu/Kariki, Gikomo/Kiawara, Miiri, Ngorano, Gikaibei, Njoguini, Kanjora, Ruruguti, Ihwagi and Muruguru. A total of 1,837N0. Titles were prepared.

 

Benefitted from enhancement of tenure security. Planning, Survey and Titling was done in Umoja Informal settlement. A total of 63N0. Titles were prepared.

Implementation of the National Hygiene Programme (Kazi Mtaani)

The project funded the implementation of the first phase (1A) of Kazi Mtaani, an initiative of the Government to cushion the most vulnerable population from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

This first phase (1A) focused on Twenty-Seven (27) informal settlements in eight (8) counties of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kilifi, Kwale and Mandera as tabultated below;
