Residents and stakeholders drawn from Taita Taveta, Kakamega and Kilifi counties are upbeat about planned interventions and developments being rolled-out by the Second Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP2) aimed at dignifying their lives.
In Kakamega County, KISIP2 team recently engaged communities drawn from Amalemba, Kambi Somali, Lukoye, Shibale and Mjini informal settlements.
The Kakamega meeting sought better understanding of the project impacts and mitigation measures proposed by Consultants, as well as discussing the current status of encroachments in settlements where KISIP1 implemented the Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) during tenure regularization.
This is done to ensure implementation of environmental and social safeguards before commencement of works within the settlements. The meeting also brought together County Project Coordinating Team (CPCT) and Consultants.
Meanwhile, in Taita Taveta, KISIP2 team is currently engaging residents and other stakeholders to present the draft land use development plans for selected areas within the vast county.
The presentation of Draft Local Physical and Land Use Development Plans is expected to gather views, comments and input from stakeholders in Taita Taveta county, with the aim of preparing the final plan which will be presented for approval.
The meeting is being attended by county government officials, County Project Coordination Team, local administration, KISIP2 National team and consultants.
